245 Park Avenue is a Class-A headquarters-caliber building located in one of the most distinguished corporate corridors in the world. At 1.8 million square feet and 44 stories tall – and occupying the entire block between 46th and 47th Streets – it is among the largest buildings along Midtown East’s preeminent office district. The tower is located directly across from Grand Central Terminal’s North entrance and is central to the area’s best retail, restaurants and hotels.
The building site was once occupied by the second Grand Central Palace exhibition hall, which was demolished in 1964 to make way for 245 Park. It was designed by Shreve, Lamb & Harmon Associates and completed in 1967. As of 2019, it is one of 41 buildings in New York City that has its own zip code. Throughout its history, the building was named for previous anchor tenants such as American Tobacco Company, American Brands and Bear Stearns.
